Dare and need

I know that 'dare' and 'need' is rather strange modal verbs.

1)I may say 'I need not do that', but may I say 'I need do that', without TO?

2) I know only phrase 'I dare say' without TO, but may I say 'I dare do' or every other verb? And should I write every time 'dare say' like 'daresay'??

3) as I uderstood, need may have a past form only when it's not a modal verb, but when I want to say smthng about the past with modal need? and need not

4) dare has a past form and this form is still modal verb? can I say "I dared say" and "I dared not say"?

thanks
