Dangling Words

My boss left me a message that states "Try to avoid danglin single words."

It is in reference to the following bulleted list.

• Cloud Computing

• Hi Tech and Low Tech Emergency Planning Support

• Emergency Preparedness and Readiness Tracking

• Comprehensive and Quick Reference Emergency Planning

• Panoptic Site Mapping

• Multifaceted Security Assessments

• Prioritized Area Hazard Identification

• Individualized Staff Training

• Preparedness Drill Distribution Scheduling

• Resource Repository for Additional Security and Preparedness Topics
• Nationwide School Safety Incident Reporting Databas

I'm not a writer or editor, and I have no clue what he's talking about.

Any ideas? Did I misword something here?

I appreciate it!

Well, I *am* a writer, and I don't know what he meant either. You're missing a few hyphens, but aside from that, these are all multi-word noun phrases, so they are pretty parallel. As some unsolicited advice, you have too many bullets here.

  • Chunk them into groups: Planning support, operational support, data management, etc.

Oh, wait. I had another thought. When formatted, so any of these bullets wrap to a second line so that you have single words orphaned on the line below?

Thanks for the reply.

There was one line where a word had ran over to the next line.. I'll shorten that up a bit.

Happy to hear about the hyphens if you've got the time.

Thanks for the insight!

Some may argue for ones in a few other places (school-safety), but these two really needed them.
