Dangling What?

Here is a line I saw written on an essay at work. I can't figure out what is wrong with it or how to fix it. It just feels so wrong!

"The squadron trains fliers, conducts mission tests, and intelligence exploitation."

Can anybody explain to me what is wrong with this, and if my proposed fix:

"The squadron conducts mission tests and intelligence exploitation, and trains fliers."

is correct?

ChrisFen I can't figure out what is wrong with it or how to fix it. " It is lack of parallelism. I would expect this: The squadron trains fliers, conducts mission tests, and exploits intelligence.
