Dangling modifier?

Hello. Is the following sentence correct? Or is the first part of it what is usually called a dangling modifier?

Having a great ability with his feet, it is Carone the best soccer player today.

I know that "Having a great ability with his feet, Carone is the best soccer player today." sounds better, but I would like to know if the sentence above is mistaken.

Thank you very much.

This part doesn't work, even by itself.
