dangerous poisons

I think this phrase doesn't fit well in this context. The second sentence is also funny. Can you please help me improve it?

Benzines are hydrodesulphurized in order to remove sulphur, nitrogen and oxygen compounds which are dangerous poisons for isomerization catalysts and catalytic reforming catalysts. By this procedure, chemical stability of cracking petrol is increased and cetan number, chemical stability and colour are improved, and unpleasant odours are removed, ie due to the ecological reasons.
