Danger of life

Does this make sense to say 'to be in danger of life' or 'to be out of danger of life'?

Does this sentence make sense?

"Throughout the weeks, the boy's (health) condition progressed more and more until one day he was now out of danger of life."

How about

"Throughout the weeks, the boy's (health) condition made more and more progresses until one day he was no longer in danger of life."
