Cycle

It's a cycle and the gear attached with pedal with a chain we pour lubricant in it so that it functions properly, sometimes chain falls from where it's attached if it gets loosen, and to reattach it we get off the cycle and use our hands. Now the question is today chain fell and when I was reattaching it a friend of mine was passing by and he started talking, as a goodbye he shook hands with me all the lubricants that was on my hand gets on to his hand and he was like what's this now the act of lubricant or anything sticking on hand what do we call it? Although I apologized sayingSorry brother I forgot I was pulling the chain up and when this lubricant got on my palm hand i didn't notice and since you shook hands with me it got on to your hand.
Was I correct? If not can you correct me.

Liton Das Sorry brother , I forgot I was refitting the chain , and when this lubricant got on my palm hand I didn't notice , and since you shook hands with me it got onto your hand. I think this is a bit more longwinded than most people would say in the situation, however. I think more typical would be something like "Sorry, I didn't realise I had oil/lubricant on my hand(s)".

  • Also, it may be acceptable practice in your culture or circle to call non-relatives "brother", but I would caution against getting into the habit of using it to English-speakers generally, as it can seem uncomfortable and inappropriate to people from certain cultures.
