thanks,

It means to switch to a new process. Typically the term is used in situations requiring complex planning and potential problems. As in switching a manufacturing plant from a long established process to a new and, presumably, improved process.

Hi guys,

I see the word as stressing 'a sudden and complete change ' from one thing to another.

eg All of the bank's computer networks operate on servers in Chicago, but now they are going to operate on servers in New York. The cutover will be at noon tomorrow.

Best wishes, Clive
