Hi, I love swimming. I hope I can swim as fast as I could. In English, when people are trying to improve their time, do they say, " I try cut off my time?" or "I am trying to shave off some seconds?" Are they the common expressions?
Thanks,
Top answer
cut off my time -- no. Use one of these instead: I'm trying to cut my time down by a few seconds. I'm trying to shave a few seconds off my time.
