Cut off

Hello

Two persons talk on the phone and one of them falls on the ground and leaves phone line open.
Other one tells this someone and says

"We got cut off"

is there another way to tell this?

Best Regards

"disconnected" is a synonym for "cut off" (in this sense). However, both of these really mean that the telephone circuit was broken. Neither seems quite right in your scenario where the line remains open.

  • I can't think of any way to describe precisely what happened except by using more words.
  • For example, "I heard a crash and asked him/her if everything was OK but there was no reply".
