cut light check suit

i read a phrase in a book of Maxim Gorky, it was "cut light check suit". As i searched from the internet ,i found that "check suit" is a type of fabric but i couldn't find the meaning of the "cut light". Do you have any idea?

I think it would be a suit that is lightweight and suitable for warm weather. You might wear it without buttoning it - or maybe just one button. It would probably be quite close-fitting

I think the suit that I've indicated is probably slim-cut and light gray
