Cut / hanged up call

He cut/hanged up my call while I was speaking to him on the phone.
Is there Mr. X, can you please pass on the call to him?

Are these sentences correct?

Is "hung up" a colloquial expression? It sounds unfamiliar to me.

(2) As to the second sentence, "can you please connect me with Mr. X", sounds more of he is connecting the call to the another phone in Mr. X's office.

Suppose there is only one phone and I want the person answered to call Mr. X to speak on the same phone, how would I say that?
