Cut down on your wine-intake

Hi

Can we use the intake phrase this way? Do I need a hyphen? Also, are these sentences fully natural?

I must cut down on my wine-intake.

She decided to cut down on her protein-intake.

You must increase your water intake.

So much of calcium intake may cause you a kidney stone.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi

Yes, all of those are good. Maybe the last doesn't need the 'of'. It reads as well, with or without it

Personally, I tend to omit punctuation unless it's necessary to avoid confusion. A noun phrase like alcohol intake, I'd say, doesn't really need it - but that's a matter of style. The sentences work well with or without the hyphen
