Do we accept:

The receptionist (at the hotel) gave the key card to the customer just now.

normally we say, hotel guest / guest, do we accept "customer"?

Customer would be OK in the hotel gift shop, if the guest was buying something there.

"The receptionist", I mean here is someone who works at the lobby.

Do we call them, customers? or guests?

The people staying in a hotel are guests. In a shop within the hotel they can be customers.
