Custody of

Hi,

I’ve been having a small conundrum regarding these two sentences.

“He was fighting for custody of his son.”

I know that this is the usual way of describing the given situation.

That being said, does this sentence sound weird to your ear?

“He was fighting for his son’s custody.”

Thank you.
