Vocabulary

currently live/living

Hello,
I see people use them interchangeably, but I don't think they are quite the same. "I am currently living somewhere", gives me the idea that the person's planning to move somewhere else. "I currently live", well, I wouldn't use it. What do you think?

I think the word 'currently' suggests that the present simple does not have the idea of permanence. I think both are fine; there is no significant difference between them.

If you want to get into the weeds, and you probably do, you might say that "currently" is in more in harmony with a continuous tense because both can suggest impermanence. As just one example (below), I find it easier to say "currently" in the second clause than in the first.

We live on Raleigh Avenue in Shelton, but we are (currently) living in a motel while they remodel our bathroom
