Curious?

Hye everybody! could you please help me with this?
"I am curious if somebody here knows"
"I was curious if somebody here knew"and I was curious if somebody here knows"
I want to know in which tense I should say the second part of the above sentence in the "present or inthe "simple past".
I also have seen peoples writing "I was curious if - present simple", Why dont they say I am curious if- present simple"?
Thanks!

Dear friend When the first part of an if-sentence is in the present, the second part should also be in the present. Likewise, when the first part is in the past, the second part should also be in the past. So, I am curious if somebody here knows and I was curious if somebody here knew are both correct.

  • The last one is not correct.

Thanks for answering sir! but I still have a question that ,do we consider "I was curious if somebody knew...."the coloured part conditional, 2nd conditional I mean?

"I am curious if somebody knows" indicates that there is the possibility that somebody knows. But there is no possibility that somebody knows when you say "I was curious if somebody knew."
