Curd vs whey

Hi.Is there any difference between curd and whey? are they synonymous?They are used one after each other in the little Miss Muffet song. I have a impression that whey is the powder and curd is the watery one.Thank you

Whey is a watery milky liquid; curd is semi-solid. Both are present when milk curdles.

They aren't synonymous. Adding to what Alphecca said, whey is the watery part that remains after the formation of curds.

Whey-The thin, watery part of milk, that separates from the thicker part (curds) after coagulation, as in cheese making
