Curator Emeritus meaning

Salaam

Who is a Curator Emeritus please? Since the word "emeritus" is an adjective in essence, how come it's placement here doesn't show that. Furthermore, why are both the words capitalized please? The source from which the question is derived is as follows:

"...according to what Bernard Finn, the Curator Emeritus of the Electricity Collections at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of American History has told..."

Thanks in advance.
