Cryptics

So, do any of you do cryptic crosswords? In other words, if I need help with them, could I ask for it here? I am just learning to do them, and so I have quite a bit of difficulty even with my newspaper's easy ones. (And they only come on Fridays and Sundays. So the learning process is slowed down. Grump.)

Top answer

I create crosswords for ESL learners but not cryptic ones. They can get too frustrating even for native speakers! You can post them here anyway to see if we can guess them.

I've made crosswords before. They're hard to do, and they take a LONG time. Gives you a real respect for the people who write the really hard ones.
So I'll post some cryptic clues that I couldn't get. If you can figure them out, you get a hypothetical cookie.

1. "Tenor" opening after "Land's End" (5) (This one starts with a D and ends with a T.)

2. More than one theft sin

The answer to number two, I think, is larcenies - an anagram of since and earl.
I'll keep trying with the others.

Oh, thank you so much! Yeah, I thought it was an anagram of that, but I couldn't figure out what it was. I'll add that to my half-completed puzzle in a minute. Thanks so much!

2. Explains: cold damaged iris leaf (9)
3. Low around island: short diagonal lines (6)
4. Audits yields from branches (6)
5. Mother surrounded by slain bugs and beasts (7)
6. Touched or exploited? (6)
7. Most of rest around, undertaking vehicle drills (9)

Hey I got another one - number 7.
Rehearses - undertaking vehicle is hearse, and most of rest is R-E-S, which all adds up to drills (which we do a lot of in class) rehearsing!! Ta-ra!

BTW, which newspaper are you doing - coz it's pretty difficult!

Geebeens, you're a genius! Thank you SO MUCH!
This cryptic is from the Toronto Star. There's a good one in the Globe and Mail (another big Canadian newspaper) that I do on occasion if I find one lying around — we don't subscribe to it — but mostly I just do the Star's, which, unfortunately, doesn't come every day.
Actually, if anyone ever feels like doing a cryptic but can't find one, t
