Crying

I came across a brief study about Crying.
This part of the text is very interesting:

"A recent study looked at how people view crying. While some years ago men were not supposed to cry - they were taught that grown men don’t cry, like a rite of passage to adulthood – today a man who is crying is often seen as a sensitive and overwhelmed, whereas a woman who is crying is often seen as unstable and emotional.
So, men cry to prove they are "not too manly" and women suppress tears to prove they are "not too feminine". "

I'd like to know some opinions about it. Maybe different countries have different points of view on this issue...

so do I maj. Although I always want to try my best to make myself to be stronger, the end of the day, I know that I really need a shoulder of my lover.

Your last sentence has almost killed me. Don't ever say that to me again without meaning it. You have made me think of what I don't have and I am trying to see the positive side of life. What about a candelit dinner? Wouldn't that be wonderful "Anita" or aren't you as romantic as I am? Lol.

ok pass the box. I'm in the same boat with other women on crying. But I will say I have built a resistance and hold back. Someone I have known for many years can no longer make me cry, or at least not in front of them. I won't give them the pleasure.

WEll.. That's interesting..

However, nowadays women who cry are not really consider as unstable and emotional. Sometimes, crying is a tools they used to obtain empathy..(by the way, may i know the difference between the word 'sympathy' and 'empathy'?)

Well that depends on the situation I suppose. Some women do cry excessively I must say. I finished college a few months ago and a couple of weeks before the course ended this girl took to the habit of bursting into tears every other lesson. She'd cry out that she wished she could remain in the same class forever and never lose her friends or change her teachers...
