Cry echo

Hi

I am sure I heard this in a documentary but could not find its meaning as a phrase in any dictionary.

His mother cried echo/echoes when the verdict came.

Is cry echo or cry echoes natural English? Does it mean 'cry aloud'?

Thanks,

Tom
