Maybe the word you're looking for is "perpendicular" (i.e. the finger has to be perpendicular to the string). Just a wild guess.
Also, do you mean "don't bend the finger" by "without declination"?

I know what you mean.

The fingertip itself should be on the string not the pad of the finger. I can't remember how our guitar teacher used to phrase this though...
