Crowbar

Hi,

Can I use the word ‘crowbar’ in the following situation?

“She usually texts me when she needs something. She starts off by pretending that she cares about what I’m up to before she crowbars the topic of school into the conversation.”

What I’m trying to say is that the change in topic is sudden and that the new line of conversation couldn’t be far from what we talked about before.

Thank you.
