Popular opinion holds that there is a positive correlation between the length of Women's skirts and economic state of the country.Shorter skirts are supposed to signify prosperity, and longer ones a recession.Is this simply a myth?

Maybe I can put it this way. The less the women put on, the opener the country it is; the more the women put on, the less open the country it is. And open to a certain extent always good for development and progress, so as to lead to prosperity, whatever......

Well, they sort of cycle like everything else in fashion-as well as with the weather. Not many short skirts around here now-it's much too cold.

Well how's about Japan? Japanese women's traditional dress is Kimono, and you know it's quite long. However, Japan is still a major econimic power.

The discussion isn't about traditional dress, though. If I go out to wherever teenage girls are found shopping, will I see them wearing long kimonos or short dresses and mini-skirts? (And again, are we talking about economic prosperity or openness? Saudi Arabia is a pretty wealthy country and is pretty much mini-skirt free, I think.)
