Cross

I know "cross" has a meaning of "oppose." I wonder how it can be perceived as such.

Is it like giving a cross mark to someone's idea?

Top answer

More akin to 'cross paths', I would guess (and fight at the intersection).

AH! That cross. To cross someone's path. Not that of "to cross someone off." I see.

Thanks, MM!
