Critically discuss the use of symbolism...

Hi

Could you please tell me if the use of the underlined part sounds OK as a question in a test paper?

Q1 -Critically discuss the use of symbolism in Dickens' novel, A Tale of Two Cities.

I want to ask if a sentence can start with an adverb like "critically"? Also, students will not discuss this; they will write it.

Please shed some light on this.

Thanks,

Tom
