Criminal attorney/lawyer criminal

Hi,

How am I to understand the following dialog:

"John Does didn't pan out, but you'll
never guess who's in the meat locker."

"Who?"

"Sylvester Clarke, criminal attorney
turned lawyer criminal."

What does it mean? CRIMINAL ATTORNEY TURNED LAWYER CRIMINAL?

Thanks.

Word play. The attorney who once defended criminals has now become a criminal himself: from 'criminal lawyer' to 'lawyer criminal'. 'Meat locker' = 'cooler' = 'prison' seemed obvious to me until I googled it and found no prison references-- it is associated mostly with preserving beef and finding gay partners.

  • Still, it seems to me that 'prison' is the meaning unless you have textual information to the contrary.

Manohonor;
I hope you don't mind me asking, but where are these snippets from? I have no reason for asking, other than that I'm intreagued.
Cheers

They are all from "Collateral" DVD starring Tom Cruise, Jamie ***, Mark Ruffalo etc.

A Michael Mann's film.
