It is believed that a better education will reduce the crime rate more effectively than prison sentences. Personally, I completely disagree with this view because I think that each approach play a integral role in tackling crime.

There exists various rationalls why condemning a offender to jail is extremly necessary to fight against crime. Firstly, knowing about the indispensable consequences of commiting a crime can make them reconsider before going down the path. Being behind bars means you absolutely lose freedom and separate from your loved ones and you must live in a miserable life in a cell. As a result, prison sentences and death penalty acts as a deterrent for murders or rapists. Secondly, when a criminal person is prison, they can no longer a danger to society and people can feel safety when are walking in the street.

In addition, education can play a complementary role to curb the crime. One advantage of education is that it can raise people awareness of law and they must understand that an unlawful action must have consequences.
