The caterpillar ________ on the leaf.

a crept gently

d crawled softly

I choose c. What do you think?

Top answer

C is not the best choice, Vincent, because it is too general. Worms, snakes and caterpillars (legless creatures) usually 'crawl'.

Moving is very general, Vincent. These are just some of the few kinds of moving: crawling, hopping, brachiating, slithering, running, swimming, flying, springing, limping, jogging, etc.-- and these are just verbs of moving from one place to another! There is also nodding (moving one's head), waving (moving one's hand), etc.
