Credit or balance

Hi

I would like to know which word people (with pre-paid mobile/cell phones) use for the amount of money they load (by scratching a card). Balance? Credit?

Sorry, I couldn't call you last night. I had no __________________ on my cell.

Thanks,

Tom

Balance is the sum of the plus and the minus entries. Balance is the amount of money in the account. For example, I try to keep a $300 balance in my checking account.

Credit is heading of the column that lists all additions to the account -- checks deposited, for example. When she is uploading minutes, she is crediting the account with minutes she may use later.
