Creating a thesis

Hi everyone,

I am having trouble formulating a thesis for my papers. I know what they are and their purpose, but when it comes to creating one that makes sense and doesn't leave the reader confused that becomes a challenge. Friends and family help me hone in on the topic, otherwise they don't know what the paper discusses.

This problem is not specific to a certain paper or types of papers but rather all all of them. Is there a good cookie-cutter formula that people use to at least start developing a nice thesis?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! This has been an issue of mine for years and it is time that I solve it.
