CREAK OR CREAKING

In the following sentence, what is the right form of the verb to creak:
"You will hear creak (or creaking) the door-hinges of history and the doors of the future will open in front of you)

'Door hinges' is not hyphenated. Either verb form will work. If you wish to use such a stylized structure however, replace 'in front of' with 'before'.
