Crap

I've got doubts in what context I can use this word. In Cambridge Dictionary I found this sentence "I've only read one novel by him and it was a load of crap", but I am not sure if "crap" could also refer to gadgets such as mobile phones.
Is it correct to say: "Their latest mobile phone is a crap"?
If not, what word should I use?

Thank you

I don't either. The verb "****" means to defecate, and the noun, the product of that process.
