Cracks on the road

Hi

Is the use of cracks natural here?

  1. The road was full of cracks.
  2. The road was badly cracked from the start to the end.
  3. The road was deeply cracked from the start to the end.

You three examples are fine, but the subject line isn't. There are cracks in a road, not on it.
