Excitement is so widespread that pubs, having been used to three or four costumers, take on extra staff.
And this is all as a result of these wonderful foreigners who decided to move here so that we could make
more money and lead a normal sort of life.
And they have done it in such a way that everyone has benefited.
When they then say that, as a result of a stronger curency, high interest rates, etc. they have decided that they have to shed jobs or else close down completely, it comes as a shock.

The task does not say how many words are missing; you have to fill in the gaps, you do not know where, in the text.

Gone are the days when local inhabitants would treat news that foregn investors were intent on starting up operations in their area without suspicion. Now such announcements are greeted with joy by the long-term unemployed
