Coward

I am looking for synonyms for the word coward.

I wonder why we have so synonyms for brave such as couragous, interpid, bold, daring, audacious, fearless, plucky, valiant, heroic, gallant and so forth.

but for coward all I could find was poltroon.

Does anyone know ,more words?

The only ones I can think of are slang terms, such as scaredy cat, chicken, lily-liver, wimp, gutless wonder, yellow belly, etc. Faintheart is the only non slang term I can think of that is synonymous. , the Eskimo language has many synonyms for ice.
