Hello everybody, here is my covering letter for an exchange to NTU in Singapore. I'd just like to know if there is any problem, it was not easy for me to write it because I didn't really knew what to say ^^
Dear Sir,
Dear Madam,
From the NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF APPLIED RESEARCH of Lyon, I am applying for an Exchange to the NANYANG TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY of Singapore. Presently an Undergraduate student, I am completing a master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering and I am very interested in the courses of your Bachelor of Materials Engineering.
Hardworking, open minded and always willing to learn more, I think I could contribute to making NTU the place in Asia for people looking for an international experience. Indeed while working toward my diploma I am an active member of the Semaine Asiatique involved in the organization of an Asian festival every year. This activity, learning Japanese and my internship in India help me to understand the difficulty of communicating with people from all over the world.
Furthermore my interest in research and the excellent programs you are leading meet my academic needs and should offer me the opportunity to discover another way of collaborating and working.
I also heard that the School of Materials Science and Engineering puts a lot of emphasis on collaboration with the industry, which I myself consider very important and to which I am already looking forward.
As a European wishing to have an international career, I think NTU, a prestigious University with an outstanding reputation, is a wonderful start for me to have a new insight and a different approach to sciences from the Asian point of view. I have always endeavored to do the best and aim at excellence that is why NTU seems the right University for me to do an Exchange. As I wish to find a job in Asia, I am sure NTU will offer me the best training to reach this goal.
