"cover" or "lid"?

Is this notice okay?

"Please close the cover/lid while flushing the toilet"

- In this sentence, "cover" or "lid" using in here is more appropriate?

- Should I say, "toilet cover" or just "cover" is okay?

Thank you.

I'm afraid I don't really get the meaning. Can anyone help?

Say, "Please close the lid when flushing the toilet."

So, what is the difference usage of "when" and "while"? Can you explain to me?

Is it wrong to use "while" in this sentence?

Thanks~

It's not wrong. It implies that the lid is to be closed during the period while the toilet is in the process of flushing, and then opened again. (You flush the toilet and the toilet flushes itself.)
