"cover" of a book

Hello, I am not clear the meaning of "cover";

say, there're two "faces" of a book; the title and the name of author are printed on one "face"; on another "face" we could find the barcode, the price, etc.

Then, does the word "cover" refer to the first "face" or both?

Thank you in advance.

The cover is the whole thing. " The part of the cover with the title and so on is the front cover; the other side is the back cover; and the part visible when the book is on a shelf with other books is called the spine.

The cover is the whole thing. The paper covering on new books is called a "dust jacket." The part of the cover with the title and so on is the front cover; the other side is the back cover; and the part visible when the book is on a shelf with other books is called the spine.
