Hi this is the first industry (non-academic) position I am applying for. Need help with the cover letter, desperately. I have been working it for days and this is the best I've got. I would appreciate any help. Love you all! Thank you so much!!!
Dear Recruiter,
Your founder and I have something in common: both young girls from Bretagne with a passion for beauty. As a graduate in Biomedical Science, I am eager to join your dynamic team and would like to be considered for the position of Skin Biologist. I am particularly impressed by XYZ’s family-oriented tradition and ability to engage customers through the use of social media. Additionally, your company’s dedication to humanitarian causes, including breast cancer and HIV-research, serves only to strengthen my belief that XYZ is the ideal place for me to leverage my strong scientific and analytical abilities in the cosmetics industry.
My solid background in dermatology and molecular biology, combined with my expertise working with 3D in vitro skin models, make me well suited for this position I completed my Master’s thesis in the development and optimization of 3D full-thickness skin equivalents from human cell lines. As part of my research, I used these models to study wound-healing and secretory profiles in the skin. This technology is now an established model for testing cosmetics and sensitization. I am also proficient in 2D techniques, co-culture, and maintaining colonies. Throughout the years, I have worked with various cell lines, maintained lab inventory, and have never had contamination in any of my experiments. Beyond tissue culture, I am trained in analysis experiments including ELISA, histology, immunohistochemistry, and biochemical analysis, among others. In all of my research projects, both academic and professional, I completed statistical analysis for final reports, creating infographics to present my data. Furthermore, I wrote my literature thesis in dermatology on the use of statins and ACE-inhibitors for the treatment and prevention of tissue fibrosis. These experiences demonstrate not only my expertise in laboratory technique, but also my ability to think critically and apply my scientific knowledge for the successful design and completion of a research project.
In addition, during my training in management, I focused on developing my communication and interpersonal skills, two areas that are critical when working as part of a team. Finally, my interest in beauty has motivated me to further my knowledge by actively researching cosmetics techniques and reading esthetician textbooks and blogs. These competencies, along with my passion for innovation, will enable to me to significantly contribute to your business.
I look forward to meeting with you to discuss this position further. Thank you for your time and consideration.
