Cover letter Ph.D

Hi
I'm going to apply for a Ph.D, here is the cover letter I wrote
I would be very grateful if someone could read it and give me some advices or corrections.

Dear ****

I am writing you to apply for a position as a PH.D. in your lab. I read several papers published by your group and I was very interested in the work you accomplished on the ***** field of research.
I have recently graduated of a cellular and molecular biology master from ****** in ******. During my studies, I developed a great interest in the plasticity of the chromatin and its link with stemness and differentiation. For the final year of my degree I chose to specialize in the study of different stem cell models, I am currently working in a laboratory at **** institute of ******, under the supervision of Doctor ******, to complete a research project about the SWI/SNF complexe, in the hematopoietic compartment.
Results of this current project will highlight the importance of the chromatin remodeling complex SWI/SNF composition during differentiation.
This project allowed me to master numerous molecular, biochemical and cellular biology techniques. In particular, I had the opportunity to work on the mouse model. Indeed, the lab uses different knockouts mouse models on which I was able to characterize different phenotypes by flux cytometry in the hematopoietic compartment.
I further investigated the role of the subunit ****** and worked to highlight the mechanism of action of this protein using in vitro and in vivo rescue experiments with several mutants of the protein to identify a domain essential and sufficient for its function.
With these experiments I was able to identify suspected partners of the protein through a particular domain with co-ip experiments and thus determine its role during hematopoiesis.
This project is actually nearing completion and an article will soon be submitted from which I will be second author.
Through this project I have been able to expand my analytical skills and to learn how to work in a team on such a project.
I think I’m well qualified to achieve a Ph.D. in your lab as I have the educational background, academic achievement and practical experience through the achievement of one lab project.
I have attached my resume and my academic referees for your review.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
