Cover letter help

Dear forum members,

Just found about the site and learned a lot of useful tips to better write for my job search. I have tried to fix my cover letter as much as I can but would like a 3rd person (ideally more) to have a poke at it and correct me.

I reside in Canada (in case it matters for the choice of words)

Here is my cover letter:

I am writing to express my interest in the Chemist position available at XXX Inc. I see myself a great candidate for the position and would like to submit my candidacy for the position.



I am a successful chemist with a diverse research and instrumentation training. I see my experience with nanoparticles synthesis, characterization, surface modification and my ability to manage research projects a perfect fit for this position.



My key attributes, briefly summarized here, shows why I would be a great choice for the position.

Ø PhD analytical chemist with nanomaterials specialization

Ø Broad and versatile educational and research background

Ø Experienced in various chemical testing procedures and modern instrumental analysis

Ø Highly capable of presenting experimental results to scientific personnel.

Ø Innate ability to learn and master newer techniques in a short time

Ø Capable of training and supervising

Ø Enforce safety and follow guidelines and perform required techniques effectively

Ø Excellent work ethic

Ø Young, energetic, flexible and initiative

Ø Willing to travel domestically and internationally


The opportunity to work with highly motivated colleagues in a dynamic environment at XXX Inc is the perfect opportunity I have been searching for. Although the position requires only completion of a post secondary education, the nature of the position and its responsibilities will benefit me immensely to broaden my expertise.
