Cover Letter for Together Network (volunteer organisation)

Hello everyone!

Could you please tell me if the following letter is correct and can I send that to the volunteer organisation:

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to take part in the volunteering project organised by ***. I share the values of your organisation - cooperation, international friendship, environmental-friendliness and stirving for the peace in the whole world.
I have always thought that people should help each other, respect the nature and do their best to improve the society they live in. But only now have I come to the decission of becoming a volunteer myself - as (because) if somebody wants to change the world for the good, one should change himself first.
I am studying Automotive Engineering in the *** and, although, from the first look, my speciality may have nothing in common with volunteering, I have decided to devote my life to the automotive industry because of my love for the environment. Despite the lack of experiance in volunteering, I believe to have the most important features of the volunteer - the willingness to develop myself and the wish to help the others. I am young, full of energy and enthusiasm and would like to positively contribute both *** and the people of Europe by doing the work that society needs most.
For my own part, I hope to gain new experience, improve my French language skills and discover french culture, while meeting new people and making new friends.
Unfortunately, due to my summer French courses and the new academic year starting, I only have a small gap between mid-August and mid-September, however, I would like to hope that there will be some possibility for me to apply my skills for the sake of today's society.
