Hi! I want to apply for a PhD and don't want to lose the opportunity for some mistakes in the cover letter. I would be glad if you can give me some comments on this letter and on how could I improve it. Thank you so much!


I am writing in response to the vacancy for PhD ‘____’ advertised in the web page of the University____.

I would welcome the opportunity to use the knowledge and experience I have gained during my Degree in ___ and my Final Year Project named: ______. It has been carried out at the Department of ____ in the University of ____ and directed by ____. During this year, I have taken in contact with spectrophotometers such as ___ (the one in which I made the bulk of my work) and ___; a microscope spectrometer ___, and the ____. Moreover, I have used Gaussian 09 and have some knowledge on computational chemistry.

On the other hand, I have been twice studying abroad. In __, I did attend lessons belonging to my degree and, in ___, I just was focused in my communication skills. These experiences, have offered me opportunities to adapt to different multicultural environments in which I have learned how important flexibility, organization and planning are to success in teamwork.
