I'm applying for a job with a national regulator of the financial sector in the UK, and I was hoping someone could kindly have a look at my cover letter as I can no longer tell whether it reads right.
I'm especially unsure about the underlined bit. What I'm trying to say there is that
a) those investigations were conducted for banks, and
b) we were investigating (alleged) misconduct and market abuse.
Not sure if that's what that sentence currently says.
Your help will be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Alex
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to apply for the role of Junior Associate within the Markets Oversight team, advertised on your website. Please find enclosed my CV for your consideration.
My skills and experience make me an excellent candidate for this position. I am a paralegal with three years of experience from the legal and consulting sectors, specialising in regulatory matters and investigations. My experience comprises internal investigations into conduct and market abuse matters for banking institutions, as well as large scale regulatory probes, such as the investigation into manipulation of the fixed income market. This equipped me with a valuable insight into market practices, and an appreciation of the challenges the PRA faces in detecting market abuse.
I have experience in analysing and interpreting traders’ communications and transactional documentation, and a track record in identification of manipulation around benchmarks, auctions and client order handling. As a lead paralegal on the fixed income investigation, I was responsible for conducting advanced searches on the client’s database to identify areas of concern, contributing to development of new investigative angles.
I have obtained a CISI qualification in UK Regulation and Professional Integrity, and possess a working knowledge of the market abuse regulations. Additionally, I have a sound understanding of a wide range of financial products, direct experience with foreign exchange, fixed income and derivatives, and a certificate in Securities and Investment.
Having spent the last few months abroad, where I have been looking after a family matter, I am now returning to the UK. I strongly believe this vacancy is an ideally suited role, where I could not only add value to the PRA’s work but also enjoy much work satisfaction.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
