COVER LETTER ;)))

Who ever took time to read this letter and improve it, THANK YOU!! Emotion: wink)

I would like to apply for a nanny position in the UK (although I don't have professional qualification). English is not my mother tongue, so any suggestiong and corrections are more than welcome.

Dear Ms. XXX,

I would like to apply for the position as a Nanny, which you advertised on X. I am taking a year off University and I would cherish the opportunity to live and work in X before I begin with my studies at University of X in September 2012. I am very excited at the prospect of caring for your three-year-old daughter and helping her learn and grow.

My interest in childcare began when my brother was born. Considering significant age difference between us this was my first nanny experience indeed. Apart for looking after my younger brother I also worked as a Nanny and Au pair. I previously looked after two boys aged three years old and eleven months during my summer vacations in 2010. As they lived in France this experience not only made me more skilled in caretaking, but it also taught me to adapt quickly to the new culture. I had also been caring for a lovely two-year-old boy for three consecutive years until I decided to move to another city to pursue my undergraduate studies.

These experiences have taught me to be very patient, creative and they made me love and appreciate this job even more. My strenght lies in the ability to easily connect with children by being tolerant, empathetic and a great listener. I will do my best to look after her emotional and physical well being and I will also respect any decisions in terms of how you want your child to be raised.

I thoroughly enjoy spending time with children and experiencing the uniqueness of each child. My priority when working with them is to create a warm, safe and dynamic atmosphere and build a trusting relationship with them. I am very enthusiastic about this job and this enthusiasm lends me the ability to inspire and stimulate children to reach their full potential. I also have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Thank you for taking the time to read this letter and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Yours faithfully,

Hi, I hadn't seen this when I looked at your CV. Yeah, if you send it with your letter you don't need to add anything to the CV. I changed a couple of things to make it more natural.

-You mentioned 'caretaking' skills. Be careful, in UK english this specifically refers to someone like a janitor or a person who looks after a building. You'd be best to say 'child-care' or 'caring'.
