I am writing in response to your advertisement in Coastal List for the Ph.D. position Process-based morphological modeling. I am holding an M.A.Sc degree from University of Ottawa in Coastal Engineering. Upon graduation in 2007, I have been ceaselessly engaged in professional work in the fields of Coastal Engineering and Coastal Modeling. I have been seeking just such an opportunity as this, and I believe my education, research experience and background would be a proper match for your requirements.

My printed research experience comprises of an M.A.Sc. thesis (nominated by the Examination Committee for an FGPS award), co-authoring one journal paper in JCR, as well as authoring two ICCE conference papers and nine other papers in various international conferences. As for my thesis, I developed a novel MATLAB- and Fortran-based numerical model for modeling of cohesive sediment concentration under waves and currents, which has provided me an ample experience in numerical modeling. Moreover, I have done an extensive study on a rare case of a re-migrating inlet, resulting in an ICCE paper in 2010, which not only contributed significantly to my knowledge in morphology of tidal inlets, but also inflamed my passion and interest to do a more in-depth research on morphodynamics and geomorphological modeling.
As a teaching experience, I have continually taught "Civil Engineering Hydraulics" and "Hydraulic Structures" for undergraduate program at BIHE institute for last four years, an experience which would be a valuable add to your department as well. In addition, I have an experience of working as a TA in both BIHE and University of Ottawa.
In addition to my research and teaching endeavors, a detailed account of my work-experience is presented in my attached CV file, highlights of which include:
• Maritime structure design for seven different ports comprising more than 20 kilometers of rubble-mound breakwaters (both basic and detailed design) along with performing harbor tranquility and hydrodynamic study for the aforementioned ports;
• Morphodynamic and sediment transport study for the purpose of site selection for two major fishery ports in Southern Iran;
• Being the chief engineer and compiler of the Iranian National Guidelines for the use of geotextiles in rubble-mound breakwaters.

I am confident that enhancement of my knowledge, vision and experience obtained from intense study as a Ph.D. candidate would open new avenues for further contribution in field of coastal engineering, and greater services to my community, my country and humanity at large.
