Letter Writing

Cover Letter

Hello everyone !

Could someone please help me with my cover letter ? I'm French so it's quite difficult for me to write one in English... You people are so different from us XD We always need to be soooo polite in our cover letters... I'm not sure it's the same for you ? Anyway ^^' Please help !! This is what I wrote :

Dear Sir,
I'm a third-year translation student at the ISIT (Intercultural Management and Communication Institute), one of the best French school regarding translation.
Interested in videogames since my childhood and willing to pursue a carreer in translation, I would like to combine these two elements in my professional life. I learnt about Universally Speaking from a friend of mine, who attended a conference you gave in London. The hihgly-positive impact you had on her and her enthusiasm concerning Usually Speaking make me want to apply for an intership within your company.
During my academic training, I had to translate very different sorts of textes, from economic to technical, and studied translation on a theoritical basis. Furthermore, I already translate subtitles as a fansubber. While I worked in Disneyland Resort Paris, I learnt to work as a team and with foreigners.
Although I have no work experience in Translation yet, the skills I have gained during my academic training, combined with my interest for this sector and my deep enthusiasm, make me a qualified candidate for an internship.
I would appreciate the chance to discuss my qualifications with you. Please find enclosed a resume. I thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

Thanks again for any help !

Without reading it, for American use, it is too long for a cover letter. You are planning to use standard format, are you not? That means address and return address, date, salutation, all that.
