Couldn't say a word
Regarding the following three sentences:
(A) Karen was so upset that she couldn't say a word.
(B) Karen was so upset that she couldn't say even a word.
(C) Karen was so upset that she couldn't say any words.
Could you tell me how each of them sounds to you? It seems to me that all of them are grammatically correct, but only (A) sounds natural. What do you think?
